Good answer

Seriously.

If I am wrong and there is a God?

God will thank me for not having slandered Him, for not having gone around saying He hated this, He loved that, He wanted this or that.

  1. It took until I took some classes at the local Catholic seminary for me to learn that “taking the Lord’s name in vain” had nothing to do with using four-letter words, but was in fact was about what self-proclaimed religious people do every day – daring to claim God as their supporter for their own agendas. That actually includes the phrase “so help me, God” in our court oaths. I saw that covered in one program on the History Channel once. Otherwise, nada from anywhere else.

So the quote above is actually on very solid theological ground.

It fits with my current philosophy. I figure if God is around, S/he can take care of Her/Himself. I’ll just do my best to be a decent person and help others where and when I can. If that’s not enough, I probably wouldn’t be acceptable anyway.
