I’ll get a post up tonight. That is, unless the news is bad from the vet. This time it’s our kitty, Missy. She’s down to seven pounds of skin, fur and bones. Not eating and now, pretty much off by herself. I took her to the vet on Saturday and we are awaiting bloodwork results. But we all can see the writing on the wall.
TAM 9 was amazing and I do want to write about it, but real life calls, and right now it’s winning.
At least I’ve gone through three days of pictures.
Updated at 3:20 p.m. – The news from the vet is not good. Renal failure. I suspected it, having gone through it before and knowing how common it is in senior cats. Still…
If Missy doesn’t take this decision out of our hands in the next 24 hours, and she very well might, we’ll be making another trip to the vet.

All my love to your sweet Missy!
OT, I have read several times on the web that Obama could have had a clean rise in the debt limit but turned it down, demanding instead some sort of long range debt reduction plan all on his own.
He created this monster in the first place, according to that story.
And so all of the cuts are actually his fault, his doing, even his intention.
The appearance of pressure from Republican madmen threatening to crash the economy is just nonsense, on that story.
Do you or does any of your readers have any idea if this story is true?
Is it true we could have had a clean hike in the debt limit and O turned it down?
I don’t know if that is true. All along the Republicans have insisted on no debt limit increase without concomitant cuts.
That being said, I do think he has brought this on himself. And yes, by forcing the original catfood commission down our throats when his own party voted it down, it makes me think that he wanted this crisis.
Readers, do any of you have any credible evidence that Obama turned down a clean vote? I haven’t heard of any such rumor, have you?
There is the McConnell plan from a week ago:
Of course, now they are just calling it the “Reid Plan” and have dropped off McConnell’s name . . .
This is why many on the left are using the word “Kabuki.”
Obama wants his catfood commission, and one way or another, he’s going to get it.
Of course, this all makes sense if you operate from the position that Obama is a Republican. Not a right-wing crazy-ass Tea Party conservative, but a Republican nonetheless.
His hero is Reagan. What more is there to say?
I am so sorry about your kitty! One thing you might want to discuss with your vet is putting her on fluids. Most cats tolerate it well. (An IV with warmed fluids is dripped through a needle, just subcutaneously, say between the shoulder blades.) The vet can do it — takes about 5 minutes, once or twice a week. Or you can learn to do it yourself at home (less stress for the cat and cheaper).
I have been able to get an extra good 3-9 months for cats in this condition, even when they have lost weight. Some cats stabilize and can keep going for years. I have not been that lucky but an extra 3-9 good months is like a year or two in cat-life time and they can be pretty active and happy throughout that time.
Best wishes to you!

Her lab results were so bad, that doing this was not an option. We’ve done this before with another cat, but we couldn’t do it this time.
We said goodbye to Missy at about 5pm tonight.
