I owe you a post

I owe you a meaty post…at least, that’s how I feel, but a late night at the Dayton Dems Town Hall last night and a pretty rough week at work (and it’s only Wednesday), and there’s just not a long post in me.

Last night’s Town Hall was my first “toe dip” into Democratic Party anything since I went NP in June. I loved seeing my old friends, even the one who back then couldn’t understand my passion for Hillary, but who is now appalled at Obama’s claim of “sovereign immunity.”  She didn’t want to hear what I had to say then. Do you think she might be willing to listen now? But, I think we’re sorta stuck now.

Regarding the evening, suffice it to say, Barbara Buckley needs to be our next Governor…and I mean in 2010. Jimbo, you are toast. If she chooses to run, I am so there.

Second,  you need to know, we’ve got an incredibly dedicated and hard working legislature. It’s easy to stand on the outside and throw stones, but damn, given the decisions that they have to make and the dollars they have to work with, I don’t envy them at all.

Good news! It looks like the funds for the oncology unit at UMC will be restored and it will be re-opened. More details when I’ve got them, but that’s what I took away from my very explicit question to Speaker Buckley and the Democratic Legislative members last night.  By the way, if you were a Lyon County resident and you blew off last night’s town hall, you Missed Out.

Go read Anna Belle’s latest, click through her links to dakinikat’s post and give Joe a click as well.

I guess I should be excited that KO is speaking out  about Obama’s latest (even if he did crib it all from GG), but, gosh, gee…I just can’t seem to muster any kind of enthusiasm for him. As I said to my friend who breathlessly reported on KO’s segment  with Jonathan Turley on last night’s Countdown:

I heard about Keith’s show via Glenn Greenwald. I am happy that he has seen the light on this one thing, but I wil NEVER forgive him for the shit he pulled during the primaries. I won’t watch. Sorry. KO can kiss my ass.

And after said friend asked me to have mercy on KO because he’d recently lost his mother:

I don’t know anything about KO’s mother passing away and he has my sympathy for that. However, I don’t see how that has anything to do with his actions toward Hillary. His was just another voice of hatred for her. One of the worst. He is a misogynistic pig (even before he started on HRC), so I will listen to saner voices instead of his. And yeah, while Turley’s been right about the constitutional stuff, he’s had a real blind spot when it comes to the Clintons…both of them. Again, I’ll read Greenwald and Somerby and pass on KO.

And just to finish it off: The worst music video….ever. Rock Me Tonite!

And yes, I have been drinking.  Why do you ask?

Tuesday Night Drunk Blogging

What else are you gonna do when you’ve survived a “strategic reduction in force” at work?  And you knew it was coming, and you had to schedule the rooms for the deed, and, and, you get to say goodbye to the woman who was your introduction to said place of employ…a place you love…with people you love…and work you love…

Okay, let’s start with Val Kilmer…Screw that damn Batman movie…he will always be Doc Holliday to me. “You’re not wearing a bustle. How lewd!”

docholliday

oh baby…hawt!

but, jeemaneee… what has happened to you?

Nutrisystem. Seriously dude.

Oh…in addition to my monthly donation to the ASPCA, the Humane Society of the United States got me with their commercial tonight on the History Channel.

Oh…Anthony Romero is very disappointed with Barack (as am I), so I signed his petition.

Turns out Amnesty International is none too pleased as well, so, yep, I signed their petition as well.

So the last three emails (aside from my Facebook back and forths with Sarah Ferguson) are “Thank You” emails.

And Paul Krugman passes on this little gem:

Acronyms

I was going to dub the new financial plan TANF 2 — temporary assistance to needy financial institutions, without, you know, any of the means-testing or work requirements involved when poor people get help.

But Jamie Galbraith (private communication) has trumped me; he says it’s the Bad Assets Relief Fund.

Bwa!
